International glory for Boschendal's Pink Bubbly

Boschendal Le Grand Pavillon Rose is the proud recipient of one of only 2 medals for South African Cap Classique in the hotly contested competition between the best sparkling wines in the world at the Effervescents du Monde judged in Dijon, France.

The Effervescents du Monde is now in its 9th year judged by a global panel of more than 100 bubbly experts.

Boschendal received one of only 147 silver medals awarded out of more than 500 wines from 24 countries, including some hard hitting Champagne brands. It was one of only 2 awards for sparkling wines from South Africa, and the only Rose Cap Classique to receive a medal.

Le Grand Pavillon Rose is the Non Vintage little sister to the celebrated multi award winning Grande Cuvee Brut 2007. "This is great international recognition for our pink bubbly," says Boschendal winemaker Lizelle Gerber. "It's easy to be seduced by the alluring colour and soft crushed raspberry cream flavours of this Cap Classique."

This is certainly confirmed by the nod of approval from Fair Lady, one of South Africa's leading women's magazines that judged the rose Cap Classique best overall in their 2011 Consumer Awards. It also proved top of the pops in the Special Occassion Category in the 100 Women, 100 Wines Competition held for the first time in Cape Town earlier this year.

"This great news comes just in time for the festive season - not that you need any excuse to pop a few bottles all year round!" says Lizelle
